Running below the clouds, skiing above / by Dani Perrot

A few weekends ago, had our last long run before the race! Forecast was calling for non-stop rain all weekend, so Dierker and I did a little mini Skyline Traverse to Mesa Trail action in rain. Was super cool (literally) to be out for hours and hours in those conditions, and a little scary too. Luckily, temperatures didn't drop too much and the wind stayed down; we were soaking wet within 30 minutes of leaving the car and only (somehow) got even more drenched. SO FUN. Felt like a big accomplishment for this sunny California runner to get in a solid 6 hours of rain running. On Sunday, we went for a little ski up in RMNP, and to our surprise, got above the clouds! Had hoped to ski Tyndall but it was  far too hot by the time we got to the top of Banana Bowls, so we made some fun cream-cheesy turns back down into the cloud bank. A lovely, lovely weekend.
