Angel of Shavano, 03 | 14 | 2015 / by Dani Perrot

After a few weeks of dry and warm, we decided it might be time to start checking out conditions up high. We headed down to Salida on Saturday morning to ski the Angel of Shavano, a snowfield shaped like an angel with its wings outspread just below the summit of 14,200-ish ft Mt. Shavano.

The approach was quite a bit further than we anticipated, and we decided to turn around at the top of our line rather than summit. Things were warming up (fast), and we were already a few hours behind when we should have been heading down. Lovely line, with an incredible view of the Sangre de Cristos to the south. A full day, but a good one as always.
