Pre-3 day weekend 3 day weekend / by Dani Perrot

We lucked out and got Friday off, so we got a surprise 3 day weekend! To make the most of it, we  decided it's February (even if the weather disagrees) and we had better do a lot of skiing. And since it's almost Valentine's, we had better do it together. So! Begin the weekend.

FRIDAY: Heart Lake

In summary, a beautiful morning up in the Indian Peaks. Lots of very loud booms from collapsing, but no signs of avalanches.

SATURDAY: 20 MILES IN CRUSTY BUTT

1:30 AM, wake up. 2:30 AM, drive to Crested Butte. 7:45 AM, get to trailhead in Crested Butte. 8:15 AM, leave for Friends Hut. After several hours of skinning in 60 degree weather, get shut down about a mile from Friends Hut by skins that refuse to stop glopping. Turn around and pole 10 flat miles back to the car. Beautiful? Yes. Enjoyable? Mostly because we got to do it together. Also there was lots of bacon involved, so that was cool.

SUNDAY: REUSE, RECYCLE

On the way back home, we stopped at City on a Hill for some coffee and Melanzana for a cozy dress (gift from Dierker). Then, we made a quick stop over Fremont Pass for some surprisingly excellent and aesthetic recycled powder skiing.
