Transitioning / by Dani Perrot

It's May in Colorado and the weather is still trying to make up its mind on what season it is. Spring at the lower elevations, and definitely going through a transition up high. On Sunday, we headed up Radiobeacon from an empty East Portal parking lot with Keith and Nans. We got to the bench above the two couloirs that drop to Forest Lakes before it really started snowing, and we decided to head down for the day rather than push up to the ridge and summit. The sun broke through just as we were beginning to ski, making for some very aesthetic cream-cheesy turns. We hit some steeper south-facing shots off of the shoulder of Radiobeacon, and it was a blast to finally ski something a little steeper! Thanks for an excellent morning, Keith and Nans!
