The Matron - More October Flatiron Exploration / by Dani Perrot

The Matron: the East Ridge route begins on the lookers-right side in the trees, gains the east ridge right at the top of the steep face at the bottom, then generally climbs the lookers-right side of the face.

Working our way through the top 25 climbs in the Flatirons 5.8 and below, Dani and I headed to South Mesa Trail Head on Saturday to go explore the East face of the Matron. The Matron did not disappoint. After an airy first pitch we worked our way through 4 -5 more pitches of narrow, high grade Flatiron slab. We did see a couple of other parties on and around the Matron, but for the most part we enjoyed a great morning and especially great weather on the south side of the Flatirons.
