Blue Sky Marathon: A Door-to-Door Race / by Dani Perrot

Last weekend, Dierker and I got out with about 300 other runners on the trails around our house in Gnar Runners’ Blue Sky Marathon. It isn’t often that one can simply walk from their house to the start line of a trail marathon and back again afterward, so we figured we had better take full advantage. Although we’ve been doing a decent amount of running since coming back from the wedding and honeymoon, we certainly hadn’t “trained” for this one…and we did pretty well, all things considered! Finished hand-in-hand in a time of 5:07, and in the top 1/3 of the field. Not bad for a fun run. :) My hip flexor went out about 9 miles in, but we still managed to eek it out at a decent pace (honestly, probably about as fast as we would have done as a training run on our own). Diane and Shane even came out to meet us at the finish line afterward…and we scored some sickkkkkk foam core Salomon flatbills. [Because we definitely need more of those! But still, they are sick.] A few pics from before, during, and after below!

XOXO, D&D
