Trump Skis in Jeans by Dani Perrot

"So bad, even introverts are here."

This past Saturday, Alex and I joined Kristie at the Women's March in Denver. Scared, depressed, infuriated, disrespected, angry, defiant...those are just some of the emotional responses I'm having to our new political state as a person concerned for the future of our planet, equality, human rights, international relations...the list goes on and on. I'll stop here.

Anyway, apparently, I am not the only one.

Arapahoe Lakes 1|15|2017 by Dani Perrot

Not that we have skied a ton in the East Portal area, but terrain is looking pretty different-than-usual with all of this snow. No problem with that! Spent the morning up at Arapahoe Lakes with Kristie and Nans, had a great time skiing "fast-pow," which seemed to have no wind or sun affect since the last storm (RARE AND AMAZING). We managed to catch the little bit of sun of the day during our first lap, and then got a few more good turns on lap 2 as the clouds rolled in overhead. Finished the day with pizza and beer at Pizza and Beer (or is it Beer and Pizza?) in Ned. Thanks for the great Sunday out, guys.

Tour de 'Bou by Dani Perrot

Finally, a long day out! Yesterday, we headed up to Caribou for a hot lap, and had so much fun we ended up staying out all day. Headed over to Klondike Mountain, which we've never explored, and then traversed over and up to some knobs and up Bald Mountain. Even dug a pit along the way. Depths are DEEP! Almost 3 meters in a few spots (ATL, E-facing).

A beautiful day out together in the mountains. Just how we like it.

A Backwards Weekend by Dani Perrot

Had a bit of a backwards weekend during Jan 7-8; after turning around from heading to Berthoud Pass due to stopped traffic on I-70 from LITERALLY TOO MANY PEOPLE GOING SKIING (seriously, no accidents, just people in cars), we headed up to Caribou. Alex, Keith, and Nans had skied after a big storm on Thursday, so we were hoping that the snow would be excellent. Surprisingly, it was pretty bad! Knee breaking crust up at the Anchor Mine. Had to ski where other humans had skied, just to be able to link a few turns.

Sunday morning, Alex headed to SLC for OR, and I headed up Niwot Ridge with D, Ally, and 'Nooks. Given the conditions the previous day, I suggested just going for a mellow skin (also, the weather was pretty snowy and windy). BUT THE SNOW FELT AMAZING!!! Bummer to be at Niwot, no real skiing to be had below treeline. Nevertheless, had a great skin up to the gate and surprisingly fun turns all the way down the road without hitting a single rock.

Backwards.

First Ski of 2017, 1|1|2017 by Dani Perrot

Just like last year, we spent our first day of the year at Berthoud Pass. We spent a beautiful morning up Current Creek, first up to Hidden Knoll and then up below the Postage Stamp. We were both pretty sick, so after spending a morning toodling around the mountains on skis we headed back to Boulder to make some homemade chicken/mushroom/rice soup (c/o The Frugal Gourmet, via Mama P and Rosie).

Last Ski of 2016, 12|31|2016 by Dani Perrot

Joined K&K, Meredith, Nans, and 'Nooks for a beautiful tour up Watrous Gulch for the last ski of the year! A great way to end 2016 with good friends, good turns, and a new spot. HERE WE GO, 2017!!!

A California Christmas, 2016 by Dani Perrot

We had an awesome Christmas back in California this year. Whirlwind trip that included skiing Friday, A Christmas Story viewing, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day partying with family, the movies, multiple Mikuni's trips, new board games, bowling...first Christmas back home for Dani in 5 years.

Thanks Ma, Pa, and Sister for a wonderful time home. <3

XOXO, D&D

Photos below, but first, a video. :)

No speeding up or slowing down of the footage, by the way...
