CAMP RICHARDSON HISTORIC RESORT AND MARINA

1900 Jameson Beach Rd, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96158 // 800-544-1801 // http://www.camprichardson.com

Come stay on-site for our wedding! We've reserved a large block of summer cabins, rooms, and campsites (enough for all of our guests to stay)! In your invitation, we'll let you know which accommodations we have reserved for you, and how you can call in to claim your spot. Lodging at Camp Richardson is quaint and rustic, and right next to the beach. There is a two-night minimum stay (our block is reserved for Fri Aug 24th and Saturday Aug 25th) for rooms and campsites, and a three-night minimum stay for cabins.* Camp Richardson has a restaurant, marina, general store, ice cream parlor, and bike rental shop, all right there. Lastly, you get a parking spot (obviously) with your accommodations, which is definitely valuable in this area where parking is extremely limited. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Contact us first before booking (dperrot88@gmail.com). Because Camp Richardson is on federal lands, there are some on-site rules we want to make you aware of ahead of time (even if you are not staying there): click here to see those!

*If you initially contacted us because you wanted us to reserve you a cabin, the good news is: we have one for you! The only thing is that there was a miscommunication between us and Camp Richardson that led us to believe that the cabins were a two-night minimum stay. Turns out, it's actually a three-night minimum stay for the cabins. If you'd like to stay for the full 3-days (checking in on Fri Aug 24 and checking out on Mon Aug 27), hooray! If not, get in touch with us directly (dperrot88@gmail.com) and we'll work out covering the cost of your third night. Thanks for your understanding, and apologies for the miscommunication!

FIRESIDE LODGE

515 Emerald Bay Rd, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150 // 530-544-5515 // http://www.tahoefiresidelodge.com

Bringing a pet? This spot is only 1.5 miles down the road from Camp Richardson and allows your pet to stay too. We haven't stayed there ourselves but it gets great reviews and looks super cozy! They also have complimentary bikes.......?!?!?! Amazing.

FALLEN LEAF CAMPGROUND

2165 Fallen Leaf Rd, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150 // 530-544-0426 // [click here to visit page on recreation.gov]

Want to camp and bring a pet? Fallen Leaf Campground allows pets at its tent and RV sites (but not in the yurts), and is located 1.4 miles up Fallen Leaf Road from Camp Richardson. The lake was formed by two glaciers that stopped just before reaching lake Tahoe; had they continued, Fallen Leaf Lake would be a huge bay of Lake Tahoe! It's incredibly beautiful with clear waters, alpine views, and close proximity to trails. Even if you don't stay at the campground, you should definitely take a trip up to Fallen Leaf Lake to check it out!

GETTING THERE/around there

✈  IF FLYING:

1. Get on airplane from your location and fly to either:

Reno-Tahoe International Airport, NV

2. Rent a car or catch a ride

3. Drive/ride to South Lake Tahoe! Total distance varies between 63-75 miles (1:15-1:40). Driving around Lake Tahoe is beautiful; if you don't mind taking the long way, we really enjoy the drive through Truckee.

Sacramento International Airport, CA

2. Rent a car!

3. Take Highway 50 to South Lake Tahoe! Total distance is 113 miles (2 hrs). This drive is also super pretty; if you have time and feel so inclined, there are some great hikes and/or climbing along the way!

🚘   If driving:

We recommend Siri or Rand McNally. :)

Car rentals

Reno-Tahoe International Airport: Hertz, Avis, Enterprise

Sacramento International Airport: Hertz, Avis, Enterprise

PARKING

Parking is a pain in South Lake Tahoe!

  • If you stay at Camp Richardson: you get a FREE pass to park at your specific accommodations. YAY!
  • If you don't stay at Camp Richardson, and/or you want to park at the Marina, the beach, the Beacon Bar and Grill, or along Jameson Beach Road: you must pay for a day use parking pass (cash only), pending parking lot availability. Unfortunately, we can't reserve these ahead of time, so plan accordingly, especially if you are not staying at Camp Richardson. We have listed a bunch of transportation options in the LOCAL TRANSPORTATION section below to help you avoid dealing with parking!

LOCAL TRANSPORTATION

Keep Tahoe Blue and explore these car-free options! Keep in mind that as of 2017, the transit schedules end in the early evening. If you aren't staying on-site at Camp Richardson, you could ride the Emerald Bay Shuttle (it's a converted trolley!) or the Water Taxi to the wedding, then use a taxi, Lyft, or a bike to get back to your hotel. Sounds like an adventure to us! [We will update this when 2018 information becomes available.]

Camp Rules

Woohoo! Since we're having a camp wedding, we of course gotta list some camp rules...it's the way things go when you celebrate marriage on public lands. 🌲 Camp Richardson is operated under a Special Use Permit from the U.S. Forest Service, and you can read more about its rich history here. To avoid fees/fines and maximize fun times, please review and keep to these rules while there.

1. No pets: not even in the campground. Check out STAYING THERE at the top of the page for ideas of pet-friendly spots to stay.

2. No marijuana: yep. Even though cannabis is legal in California, the ol' herb is still considered federally illegal and since Camp Richardson is on federal lands, it is not allowed on the property.

3. No drug use: 'nuf said.

4. No smoking inside buildings: don't do it.

5. Quiet time is between 10 PM and 8 AM: not everyone is down to party 'til the wee hours.

6. No golf carts: this rule is hilarious. Was anyone planning on bringing a golf cart? Change yo' plans plz.

7. Don't damage stuff: duh.

8. Unlawful activity: we're just going to copy-paste this one from our contract...in summary, be cool guys, be cool! "No activities in violation of federal, state or local laws, ordinances, rules, regulations, or contrary to the regulations of the El Dorado County Environmental or Public Health divisions is permitted on Camp Richardson’s premises."
